Voopoo Drag S3, what the official spec sheet really says
The Voopoo Drag S3 arrived in autumn 2025 with a simple pitch, a compact 60 W pod mod that takes the whole PnP X platform. On paper, it should move from a tight draw to the airiest one without changing device.
Retail listings repeat those figures without testing them against each other. Yet Voopoo’s own product page describes three different boxes, seven coils and a power ceiling that does not treat them all the same way.
Voopoo Drag S3, a 60 W pod mod built on the PnP X platform
The Voopoo Drag S3 is a pod mod with a built-in 3000 mAh battery, adjustable from 5 to 60 W, that takes the cartridges and coils of Voopoo’s PnP X platform. Its TPD version, the one built for UK shelves, ships with a 2 ml cartridge for tight mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping and two coils of 0.6 and 0.8 ohm.
A pod mod sits between an entry-level pod and a classic box mod. It keeps the clip-in cartridge format, but adds precise power control and a screen, here a 0.96-inch TFT.
The shell pairs zinc alloy with a leather finish. Voopoo lists an output voltage of 3.2 to 4.35 V and an accepted resistance range of 0.1 to 3 ohms.
Two third-party sources fill in what the official page leaves out, the review published by Vaping Post on 31 October 2025 and the listing of a French retailer. They agree on dimensions of roughly 124 × 33 × 28 mm, on three modes named Smart, RBA and Eco, and on compatibility with PnP X V2 coils.
Three boxes for one Voopoo Drag S3
Rather than one kit, the official sheet describes three packing lists. Their contents change with the target market, and that detail explains most of the contradictions between listings online.
The standard and TPD versions
The standard box holds the device, a 5 ml PnP X MTL cartridge, PnP X coils of 0.6 and 0.8 ohm, a 510 drip tip, a platform card, a USB-C cable and the manual. The TPD box carries exactly the same contents with one difference, the MTL cartridge holds only 2 ml.
In the UK, the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 cap refillable tanks for nicotine e-liquid at 2 ml, and nicotine e-liquid itself at 20 mg/ml in bottles of no more than 10 ml. The TPD version is therefore the one designed for this market, and a listing that quotes 5 ml describes the standard box.
The US version, aimed at direct lung vaping
The third box, meant for the United States, follows a different logic. It supplies a 5 ml DTL (direct lung) cartridge and two coils of 0.2 and 0.3 ohm, with no 510 drip tip on the list.
That kit targets direct lung vaping, where the vapour goes straight to the lungs on an open draw. A UK retailer lists a 2 ml DTL cartridge with those same 0.2 and 0.3 ohm coils, which shows that one kit name can hide a different vaping style depending on the seller.
Voopoo also warns on its page that, after a cartridge update, buyers may receive either the old or the new version, both described as fully functional.
Voopoo Drag S3 coils against the 60 W ceiling
The PnP X platform counts seven coils, and Voopoo publishes a power range for each one. The table below lists them as the Drag S3 page presents them.
| PnP X coil | Stated use | Range stated by Voopoo | With a 60 W ceiling |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.15 ohm | DTL | 60 to 80 W | Stuck at the bottom of its range |
| 0.2 ohm | DTL | 40 to 60 W | Full range available |
| 0.3 ohm | DTL and RDL | 32 to 40 W | Full range available |
| 0.45 ohm | RDL | 25 to 32 W | Full range available |
| 0.6 ohm | MTL and RDL | 18 to 23 W | Full range available |
| 0.8 ohm | MTL | 12 to 16 W | Full range available |
| 1 ohm | MTL | 10 to 13 W | Full range available |
The 0.15 ohm coil is the only one that outruns the device. It still appears in the table on the Drag S3 page, even though it is the coil fitted from the factory on its bigger sibling, the Drag X3, which goes up to 80 W. On the Voopoo Drag S3, it cannot go beyond 60 W, the very first value of its range.
Both coils in the TPD box sit far below that ceiling. The 0.8 ohm coil works between 12 and 16 W, for a tight draw close to that of a cigarette. The 0.6 ohm coil, at 18 to 23 W, also handles a looser draw known as RDL, halfway between the two styles.
In practice, the UK kit uses less than half of the 60 W on offer. That headroom only matters with DTL coils bought separately, and above all with the 0.2 ohm coil, whose range ends exactly at 60 W. Going past a coil’s range heats the wick faster than it can soak, a classic cause of the burnt taste on a vape.
Capacitive unlocking and heating modes
The other feature Voopoo puts forward concerns the fire button. Firing runs through a touch-sensitive surface rather than a simple push button.
A lock that engages on release
The official sheet describes capacitive touch activation. A finger on the sensor unlocks the device, and the lock returns as soon as the finger lifts. Voopoo presents this as a way to limit accidental firing in a pocket.
Voopoo’s launch press release adds that classic button unlocking remains available, and that users can switch between the two. The official sheet also refers to several unlocking options.
Smart, RBA and Eco
The three modes noted above are not explained on the product page. None of the sources consulted puts a figure on what Eco mode does to battery life, and while RBA usually refers to rebuildable decks, Voopoo does not confirm that meaning for this model.
Battery, charging and recommended e-liquid
Voopoo claims the 3000 mAh battery lasts 25 per cent longer than the previous model, the Drag S2, without restating that model’s capacity. The gap therefore remains a manufacturer figure.
Charging runs through a USB-C port, at 5 V and 2 A according to the sheet, which works out at 10 W. A plug able to supply 2 A at 5 V therefore covers what that port asks for, and the sheet claims no faster charging from a more powerful charger.
On the e-liquid side, Voopoo recommends a liquid with 50 to 70 per cent vegetable glycerine and a nicotine strength of no more than 20 mg/ml, which matches the UK cap. Our explainer on the PG and VG ratio covers what each blend changes.
The manufacturer finally claims a PnP X coil lasts through 100 ml of liquid without losing flavour. With the 2 ml TPD cartridge, that would mean 50 refills, a figure published without any test protocol.
FAQ
These answers cover practical points that online listings often skip.
What is the difference between the Drag S3 and the Drag X3?
The Drag X3 runs on a separately sold 18650 or 21700 cell and goes up to 80 W, with a 1.66-inch screen. The Drag S3 keeps a built-in 3000 mAh battery and stops at 60 W. Supplied with 0.15 and 0.3 ohm coils, the X3 is aimed first at direct lung vaping.
Do the integrated PnP X cartridges fit the Drag S3?
Yes, according to Voopoo. The Drag S3 page lists three cartridges with built-in coils of 0.3, 0.8 and 1 ohm, offered in 5 ml or 2 ml. In the UK, the 2 ml version is the one that fits the rules for nicotine e-liquid.
Are PnP X V2 coils compatible?
Yes, according to the two third-party sources mentioned above, which list both PnP X and PnP X V2 coils. The safest move is still to check the power range printed on the coil packaging before setting the device.
Can you change the drip tip on the Drag S3?
Yes. The drip tip in the standard and TPD boxes is a removable 510 model. It can be swapped for another 510 drip tip to change the feel at the mouth.
How do you fill the cartridge?
The cartridge fills from the side, under a silicone plug, and air enters from the top. It is best to let a new coil soak for a few minutes before the first puff.
Voopoo Drag S3, the version to look for in the UK
The Voopoo Drag S3 is closer to a versatile pod mod than to a small pod. Its official sheet makes it compatible with the whole PnP X platform, but its 60 W ceiling leaves the 0.15 ohm coil at the very start of its range.
In the UK, the box to look for is the TPD version, with its 2 ml MTL cartridge and its 0.6 and 0.8 ohm coils. A listing that quotes 5 ml, or coils of 0.2 and 0.3 ohm, describes another version of the Voopoo Drag S3, built for another market or another vaping style.
Beyond this model, comparing a manufacturer’s packing lists remains a good way to understand how one device changes from country to country, and what each set of rules does to vaping hardware.
